A pic I was asked to do for the Touhou subreddit, celebrating the release of Impossible Spell Card. I was asked to draw her "with an evil smile looking at the viewer in a kind of mocking fashion". I think I did a pretty good job on that. The shadow over the eyes works wonders in making characters look like they're up to no good. Also an experiment with that whole "soft cel shadong" thing, though I've still got ways to go on that, as should be visible.
Curiously, I was planning to do the whole thing on the computer, doing only a quick sketch on paper forst to figure out where things would go. I liked the sketch so much, however, that I decided to work from it. There's a pattern here of my best pics happening when I'm not putting a lot of effort into them. Then my scanner decided not to connect with any of the computers in the house. I spent a few hours trying to fix it. I didn't. I discovered that it could scan directly to an SD card, and used that as a loophole of sorts to get my scan.
The version of this on the subreddit is cut in two points, stretching only from the mouth to the eyes, to give the impression that Seija is peeking through the site's banner. You can check it out over here, of course.
